Position Summary

The newest social club experience, Common House, is growing in locations and staff. Known for cultivating community through inspirational design, dynamic programming, and fine dining, Common House strives to be an employer of choice for a hospitality-enthusiast and start-up culture thriver. As such, the team is currently searching for an HR Generalist to support the company's people strategy and payroll operations. Under the Director of People and Culture’s supervision, this role will execute on a variety of HR functions, including payroll, benefits administration, and more. On any given day, week, or month, you could responsible for the following:

Payroll & Timekeeping

  • Processing payroll for all Common House locations, including garnishment summons, liens, and child support summons.
  • Monitoring timesheets and tips in timekeeping software for accuracy.
  • Tracking and entering PTO/Sick Time/Reserve Leave, etc.

Benefits Administration

  • Administering benefits and managing all communication and coordination of annual Open Enrollment.
  • Assisting in 401k administration and employee inquiries.
  • Serving as the primary contact for employees with benefits related questions on eligibility and plan options.

Employee Relations & HR Support

  • Promoting a positive and open work environment where employees feel comfortable speaking up.
  • Participating in employee terminations and investigations as needed.
  • Being the go-to person for employee inquiries and exercising confidentiality and discretion.

HR Operations & Documentation

  • Generating internal communications such as offer letters, memos, promotion letters, etc.
  • Performing routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including performance and talent management, recognition, and morale.
  • Supporting recruiting efforts by assisting with job postings, applicant screening, coordinating interviews, and facilitating the hiring process.

To be successful in this role, you must be:

  • People Obsessed- This role centers around Common House employees. As the first point of contact for employees, you will be responsible for fostering a positive workplace culture, building strong relationships with team members, and ensuring an engaging employee experience.
  • An Experienced Practitioner- A bachelor's degree or commensurate experience is required. We are seeking someone with a minimum of 2-3 years' demonstrated experience (and evident interest) in start-up or small business human resources management- including payroll and benefits, talent management and culture creation.
  • A Natural Influencer- You will be interacting with everyone at Common House to ensure all needs are met and addressed. You will be working closely with the Director of People & Culture to develop and promote a teamwork culture and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
  • Bonus points for human resource experience in the hospitality or events industry or experience with ADP; Extra bonus points for having a SHRM-CP certification

To be successful at Common House, you must be:

  • A Start-Up’er – Common House is a start-up and an innovator in the social club space. Likewise, we need our HR Generalist to embody the same love of start-up chaos, with an ability to jump in and begin assisting as soon as they start. You should have experience operating both as a team and under developing, autonomous direction.
  • Entrepreneurial -- If you've ever felt the satisfaction of building a team, a department or a practice from the ground-up, you know it takes a certain combination of grit, skill and enthusiasm. Additionally, this role will require a candidate who practices independent judgment and discretion as many duties performed are of a critical & confidential nature.
  • Nimble & Focused – No day is ever the same at Common House, which means no day in this role will be the same either. Your ability to keep the team on track through the chaos of club grand openings and running our daily operations will be critical.
